This connotes that you shouldn't believe people who are rich and in power, their easy access to money may mean that they can do things and get away with it because they are rich and all mighty, and that their views of politics may be obscured or misconstrued through their money and power. Politicians that are rich will believe that they should stay rich and they won't care so much about the poor people in society. They will want to make people believe that the rich should stay rich and that the rich cannot be trusted.
